AS the Venice Film Festival ramps up a gear, Carey Mulligan, Freida Pinto and Michelle Dockery were the latest leading ladies to take the red carpet by storm. Arriving at the Miu Miu Women's Tales screening, the trio joined Miuccia Prada, Bruce Weber and Franca Sozzani to celebrate female creativity on the big screen.
Kate Moss stepped out looking perfectly tanned and blow-dried - after a summer when we've rarely seen her away from a beach or yacht - to attend the launch of the Louis Vuitton Timeless Muses exhibition in Tokyo. Moss was joined at the launch by fellow timeless beauty Catherine Deneuve - and the duo looked suitably stunning in lime green and white respectively.
President Obama was joined by Oprah Winfrey, and former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, as well as his wife Michelle, as he marked the 50th anniversary of Dr Martin Luther King's landmark "I have a dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.
Venice and Washington notwithstanding, New York is the place to be this week it seems, as One Direction take over the city. The British boys have been crowned unofficial kings of the Big Apple since bringing the city to a standstill as they unveiled their new film at the Ziegfeld Theatre. Not to be outdone, Karlie Kloss (who actually lives there), stepped out looking like a perfect downtown princess - accessorising with her handsome boyfriend.
Elsewhere, David Beckham enjoyed time with his children at a baseball game and on the beach, and Lady Gaga popped up in a London's Sea Shell chip shop - the name of which meshes perfectly with her current style obsession (of course) - but they all probably wished they were in New York with One Direction.
